Reddit’s Content Policy Prevents Metallica Fans From Mentioning This Album

A Metallica fan has been banned from Reddit after mention of a certain Metallica album was flagged as violating the website’s content policy.
A Reddit user shared in the YouTube clip below that he was permanently banned for “threatening violence” following a flagged comment on the Megadeth thread. This user’s comment was a response to another user asking what was the best start to “The Big 4”. The comment read, “Kill ‘Em All is definitely what initially brought a lot of people into the metal community. I would say objectively it would have to be Kill ‘Em All.
The banned Reddit user shared the YouTube clip’s caption, “Update: Reddit has continued to completely ignore all my calls, so sadly I can say my account is nearly exhausted.”
This obvious misunderstanding technically seems to be a violation of Rule 1 of Reddit’s Content Policy, which states, “Remember the human. Reddit is a place to build community and a sense of belonging, not to attack marginalized or vulnerable groups of people. Everyone has the right to use Reddit free from harassment, bullying, and threats of violence. Communities and users that incite violence or promote hatred based on identity or vulnerability will be banned.
Of course, one Reddit user commented on the irony of the situation. After all, Kill them all was not the original title of Metallica’s debut album.
“Guess we’ll just have to call it ‘Metal Up Your Ass’ after all,” they noted.
