Political Corruption and Injustice Threaten US National Security, by Austin Bay

The United States must take seriously its own survival as a republic dedicated to protecting individual life and liberty.
If this strikes readers as a pessimistic first sentence, take a deep breath and compare the June 2022 polarized American public faith in American institutions – just the courts and free speech in particular – with the faith in those institutions expressed on December 8. 1941, and September 12, 2001.
In the 24 hours prior to these dates (7/12/1941 and 11/9/2001), foreign enemies bloodied American soil with vicious surprise attacks calculated to threaten the physical existence of the American republic and shock American citizens. . Believing that their divinely inspired wills were invincible, Imperial Japan and al-Qaeda Islamists gambled that “weak” Americans would panic and politically capitulate to Japan’s Co-Prosperity Sphere or Osama bin Laden’s global caliphate.
Result: Bad bet. Note that Vladimir Putin’s Russian juggernaut failed to launch a blitzkrieg in Ukraine. Why? Tyrannical rulers and their autocratic and violent systems “cancel the culture” of opposing viewpoints and embrace imperialist fantasies and delusional certainties of victory.
In the case of the communist states of the 20th century, they didn’t have the mandate of God (they were and are atheists) but they had what they called “historical inevitability” – which is a god in academic jargon. The Soviet Union quashed the cultivation of its internal critics, sending them to the gulag or executing them.
The USSR eliminated corrective feedback and is now, to paraphrase Karl Marx, in the dustbin of history.
For some reason – racial or religious arrogance; pseudo-intellectual pretension; clique cultural affectations – autocracies assume some kind of utopian superiority. Pursuing the utopia of dictatorship justifies silencing opposition feedback—corrective feedback.
Like Hitler’s Third Reich (a racist utopia), Xi Jinping’s communist Chinese authoritarian utopia has concentration camps. Xi’s utopia combines Marxism and Han ethnic racism. Strange conjunction? Not really – absolute power breeds absolute contradictions and when contradictions are challenged, authoritarians respond with more culture and concentration camp nullification.
They do not support any corrective feedback.
Undeniable fact: the National Basketball Association of the United States neglects Xi’s camps and the production of sports shoes sponsored by the NBA.
Why? The NBA has several million Chinese viewers. This may not be considered bribery. However, allegations are circulating that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has lured an NBA franchise owner or two into tough billion-dollar investment entanglements.
In the classic Chinese historical lens, the NBA functions as a neo-tributary nation. Instead of bringing gold and concubines to the Emperor of China, NBA owners and players selling shoes serve as a narrative war asset. Their prostrations get airtime on MSNBC and the BBC.
But the NBA is a carny sideshow. China’s primary targets are American centers of power and knowledge. Check out Hunter Biden’s notebook for the Biden Organization’s China deals – a corrosive sleaze at the political top. Since April 2019, we have learned that Beijing has compromised several dozen American research institutions and possibly hundreds of professors and scientific, medical and engineering personnel.
Conclusion: The trade-off of core American values by American political and scientific elites for Chinese money is doing strategic damage to America just as Pearl Harbor and 9/11 did psychological and operational damage. Professors; political goosebumps; universities that demean and ignore American constitutional, political, and cultural values—these cowardly actors betray the values that underpin the free and productive system that spurred and sustained their individual and corporate successes.
They also undermine the sources of America’s homeland defense and international security.
Prussian strategic theorist Carl von Clausewitz described war as a clash of wills – the will to win. The Ukrainian will to win has sustained their country through thick and thin. They have self-confidence and faith in a better future linked to Europe and the West.
However, faith in America’s system of “freedom and justice for all” has been denigrated for years by “critical theory” academics and leftist America haters seeking power through the destruction of American institutions.
Politically calculated attacks on police by hard-left district attorneys like Chesa Boudin of San Francisco threaten local security — and glory be, as I end this column, it appears he has lost his recall election. Good.
But we can’t remember a bigoted jury decision.
The deadliest attack on the internal cohesion of the United States is the emergence of a two-tier justice system where one side can nullify its opponents and claim that the nullification was legal. The most harmful example is the failure of a Washington DC jury to convict Michael Sussman of lying to the FBI in former President Donald Trump’s “collusion with Russia” case. The collusion narrative was a Hillary Clinton campaign lie, which Sussman peddled. By lying to the FBI, Sussman committed a federal crime.
But a DC jury let Sussman walk. Quote from the anonymous jury president: “…I don’t think he should have been prosecuted because I think we have more time or resources to use or devote to other things that affect the nation. as a whole than a possible lie to the FBI.”
Forewoman: You are a dangerous fanatic and ultimately a threat to national unity. As investigative journalist John Solomon recently noted, Trump administration national security adviser Mike Flynn was forced to plead guilty to lying to the FBI, while the deputy director of the Bureau of At the time, Andrew McCabe was cleared of punishment for allegedly lying during an internal investigation.
Given their politically corrupt local mores, DC Beltway juries cannot be trusted to decide national security significance hearings.
I recommend Special Prosecutor John Durham try the next Russian collusion case in Lubbock, Texas.
