New Bedford police are investigating shots fired in the South Ward

NEW BEDFORD — No injuries were reported in a shooting in south New Bedford on Monday.
New Bedford Police spokesman Lt. Scott Carola confirmed that around noon South End patrol units responded to the County Street area near the intersection with Fair Street for a ShotSpotter activation.
Officers arrived to find that a suspect had exited a vehicle and shot another man, who was on the east sidewalk, Carola said.
According to Carola, no injuries were reported, although he said a nearby vehicle was damaged.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
