Jamie explains life on the ridge
In just under 36 hours of writing this article, the Foreigner The Season 6 premiere will be available on the Starz app! We’ve been waiting to dive Fraser’s Ridge for quite a long time, and we absolutely have a lot to say here.
For the sake of today’s article, however, let’s focus primarily on the overview below. After all, it looks like a major precursor to a lot of high-profile drama that’s to come over the next few episodes. Tom Christie and Jamie Fraser have a history together that dates back to their imprisonment; yet, that experience doesn’t mean they have some sort of long-term shared bond.
Part of this overview seems to be about differences of opinion. Tom is by far one of the most pious people to come to the ridge, and he’s also shaping himself into something of a religious leader. He brings people together, and in doing so, he seems to believe he’s helping them all in some way. Is this really the case? A sense of faith can be a unifying cause, and we don’t think Sam Heughan’s character is necessarily anti-religious. Instead, we just think he’s a practical man who sees the most important goal for those around him being the establishment of the land. He wants the main focus to be building cabins and making sure everyone is equipped to do so. He may also be worried about the spread of some parts of Christie’s influence.
This is not a story that will end at the start of the season; expect this to be a long-simmering conflict that could take different forms over the coming weeks.
