Atiku will be defeated in the Northeast – Gombe gov
Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya has said Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has no chance of winning in the North East.
“Our chances are really very high and we are determined to work for the success of our great party,” he said.
Yahaya told this in Minna on Saturday during his visit to former head of state, Abdulsalami Abubakar.
When asked if he would support All Progressives Congress presidential candidate Bola Tinubu, who is his party man, rather than his brother, Atiku, the Governor of Gombe said there was nothing like brother and party man, adding that Nigeria was one and went beyond Region.
“It doesn’t matter that Atiku is from the same region as me. They are all my brothers and Nigeria is one, we are fighting to keep it as a united and indivisible country,” he said.
He also said he was in Minna to visit Abdulsalami following his recent admission to a London hospital.
“We came to wish him good luck and a speedy recovery. He is our father, a former statesman and a very respected man, so we are here to show him that we care about him,” he said.
He added that one of the reasons Gombe was relatively peaceful despite being surrounded by states plagued by insecurity was their ability to realize their differences early on.
“We were able to realize our differences quite early on, some families also have a combination of both religions and Gombe is cosmopolitan in nature,” he said.
